HEREFORD are still in search of their first win of the season in Premier 2A of the West Clubs’ Women’s League after a 3-2 reverse at Cirencester.

The city side fought back from a two-goal deficit only for the home side to snatch victory two minutes from the end.

Cirencester scored twice in the first-half but the fight-back began when Dwyn Jones fired in a Di Feely short corner. Another well-executed short corner allowed skipper Erica Rogers to level the scores.

But, just when it seemed as if the city side would take a point, Circencester grabbed the winner from a short corner.

“Going into next week’s home game against Chippenham, we remain positive and take a lot from the game,” said Rogers.

In their first outing of the season, Hereford 2nd beat Stroud 2nd 8-0 in Severn 2 with Lisa Ferneyhough scoring four times, Tess Langford twice and others coming from Pippa Pearson and Lucy Booth.

In the North Division, Leominster had a 4-4 draw at Jaspers with goals from Sarah Nightingale (2), Kate Holder and Liz Ranft.

Colwall & Malvern returned from Stroud with a 1-1 draw in their Severn 1 match and, in Severn 3, their second-string enjoyed a 5-0 home success against Newent 3rd.
