PRESTEIGNE lost a two-goal lead and were forced to settle for a 4-4 draw in their top-of-the-table South Wales League Division Two clash with Newport.

Charlie Morris scored two, her second giving the hosts a 4-2 lead, however they were pegged back by Newport who held on for the draw. Presteigne travel to Brecon this Saturday.

In Division One, Kington gained revenge for their earlier season defeat by Pembroke with a 2-0 win.

Player-of-the-match Jenny Layton Mills put the hosts 1-0 up within 10 minutes following a great pass from Abi Griffiths.

Griffiths then picked up one for herself to double their advantage.

Pembroke pushed for a breakthrough but were kept at bay by backs Ruth Smith and Sian Morgan. A goalless second-half gave Kington the win, leaving them in third by a single point before they entertain second-placed Sue Noakes this Saturday.

Hereford cemented their place in West Clubs’ Women’s League Premier Division 2A with a comprehensive 7-4 victory over league leaders Salisbury.

The win sees Hereford avoid a must-win last match against fellow-strugglers Bournemouth on Saturday.

Captain Jess Lambert scored two, one a brilliant solo effort, and further goals from Amy Wilkins, seasonal debutant Tess Langford, Erica Rogers, Julia Messer and Saskia Ingram sealed the win and their Premier Division 2A status. Hereford 2nd remain at the bottom of the Severn Division One after suffering a 5-0 loss to leaders Blockley.

In the Northern Division, Leominister picked up a 2-2 draw at home to top-of-the-table Bretforton.

In the Davis Wood League Marches One, Hereford 2nd rounded off their table-topping season with an emphatic 11-0 home win over Landsdown ‘B’. Matt Thomas grabbed a hat-trick, Dan Brown and Rich Brown both picked up two while other goalscorers included Max Porter, Steve Owen and Dan Volpe with an own goal completing the scoring.

Hereford’s first-team fortunes this season have not matched those of their second-string and their relegation from the Conference North was sealed with a 5-0 loss to Newent.
