Lloyd prevailed in a tight contest after the top two players both carded 41 points.

Shropshire and Herefordshire Union of Golf Clubs’ County Seniors recorded a superb 15-3 victory over Worcestershire at Patshull Park.

Cliff Mawby’s Shropshire and Herefordshire opened up a 5-1 lead after the morning’s nine-hole greensomes.

The county then drove home their advantage in the afternoon fourballs to secure an impressive victory which was beyond the wildest dreams of skipper Mawby.

Westfields’ chief executive Andy Morris won the Hereford Lads Club Old Boys Golf Society championship after carding 42 points at Wormsley.

Rob Wynn was second and Dave Shannon, third, in ideal golfing conditions.

Mike Morgan won the longest drive, while Mark Burrough was nearest the pin and Norman Goodman took a nearest the pin prize on the 18th.
