RISING golf star Morgan Radziejowski has been accepted into the England Under-16 regional squad.

The county teenager, who plays at Herefordshire Golf Club spent a day at the Belfry as part of the selection process.

After being selected, Radziejowski, 14, will now train with top coaches of all expertise and will get to play matches against other regional sections.

"This is great for his development and stepping stone for the future, a reward for all his hard work," said Radziejowski's dad Steve.

"Morgan off a handicap of four at present, but his goal is to get it down to one by next year.

"Morgan has had a great season this year at the Herefordshire Golf Club and won a couple of events.

"He recently represented Herefordshire in the men's scratch finals at Lilleshall where he won one match and halved the other.

"Unfortunately the team lost by the smallest of margins to Bridgnorth."

Steve Radziejowski, meanwhile, played in a matchplay competition in pursuit of the Queen Elizabeth Cup on Sunday.

However, he lost to Will Lloyd over 36 holes.

Elsewhere, Jon Devereux won the President's Cup for the third time after beating Alex Allen and Stuart Gwynne overcame Neil Greening in the Coronation Cup.

The Yorath Bowl, which is a pairs knockout competition, was won by Paul Fisher and Colin Farr, with Colin Brimfield and Rob Morgan finishing runners-up.

The Mac Park Juniors Cup was won by Sam Bennett, who played Adam Evans.

Meanwhile, former Ross Golf Club member Katy Edwards helped her club finish fourth in the WPGA Lombard Trophy event in Portugal.

The showpiece is the biggest Pro-Am tournament in Europe and attracted 85 amateur golf players.

Edwards, who now plays for Bryn Meadows Golf Club in South Wales, was playing alongside Janet Beckerley and hit a hole-on-one at the 162-metre par three seventh.
