GEORGE Smith put together two fantastic gross rounds of 75 to win the Kington Golf Club Championship.

Lying in third place after the first round after Matt Weaver shot a 72 closely following by a 73 from Robin Price, Smith was able to repeat his morning round with the other plyers not able to match it.

Finishing two shots behind with a total of 152 were Ryan Hotchkiss and Price, with Price losing out on a card count back.

The best nett score of the day was from Wyndham Evans, who finished on 137 from a handicap of eight.

Matt Atkinson took second place with 139, with Tom Ammonds completing the top three places, also scoring 139.

The Kington 18-hole open gross prize was won by Anthony Ottway, from Worcester, with a gross 75.

Matt Burgoyne, a former Kington player who now competes for The Players Club, was second with 78, with Ludlow's Nigel Griffiths coming in third.

The net prize was won by Terry McCort, from Ludlow, who cared 98, with Kington junior member Tom Ritchie finishing second and Lee Jackson, of Ludlow, third.
