IAN Robertson is the new seniors' captain of Leominster Golf Club.

Robertson takes over from Terry Carver, who bowed out with a Texas Scramble competition.

He was not successful in the competition, but can look back with satisfaction after winning the Round Robin Trophy as vice-captain and raising £900 for his chosen charities.

The seniors' Round Robin team retained the trophy for the third consecutive year and were unbeaten in their home and away matches against four other clubs.

Following the Texas Scramble event, the seniors held their annual general meeting and Robertson was confirmed as captain for 2016/17.

A number of spectators when witnessed his drive-in and Kevin Room won the sweep by guessing the length of drive.

Meanwhile, club captain Chris Dixon relinquished his reins after a successful year.

The new captain is long-standing member Cyril Jennings, who faced a singles stableford competition.

His drive-in was witnessed by seven past captains, some of whom have served the club as far back as the 1970s.

The length of his drive was predicted exactly by Mike Privett.

Presentations then took place following the competition.

Elsewhere, Mike Barrington hit a hole-in-one on the par three sixth hole to win the Toyota Cup singles.

This was followed a week later by 24-handicapper Graham Flowers, who won a three-ball seniors' April Medal competition to complement a recent success in the Bossom Bowl.

The 17th hole also saw Ray Chambers par and Bill Brown birdie.
