DON Horton is the new men's captain at Burghill Valley Golf Club.

Horton has been a member since 1992 and has seen many changes at the club during the past 23 years.

"We are in safe hands, Mark and Elaine Ellis [owners] have plans moving forward and improvements have been made to the clubhouse and course," said Horton.

"We are attracting new members every week and there is a definite feel good factor about the club.

This year’s chosen charity is the Midlands Air Ambulance, which is also being supported by the senior and ladies' sections.

The ladies recently held two drive-in competitions.

The first weekend saw Jill Cross correctly guess the length of the drive, with Christine Thurgood coming top in the vice-captain's category.

The following event was won by Carroll Ashton and Ann Allen respectively.
