Ross GC's lady captain Nesta Hirst has chosen the Ross Stroke Club as her nominated charity and more than 60 ladies supported her for the first major fundraising event of the season with £650 raised.

Ross beat Monmouth 4-1 in the opening round of the 'Mail on Sunday' Classic Competition. Monmouth captain Andy Waldis beat one of Ross's form players, Dave Hart but Ross hit back with wins for Colin Bennion, Gwynne Morgan, Steve Wallbank and James Morgan and will now host Dewstow GC in the second round.
