HEREFORDSHIRE Golf Club have embarked on a new joint venture with Halo Golf Centre to set up a juniors section coaching scheme for under-18 golfers of all abilities based at Ravens Causeway.

Any junior member of the Herefordshire GC will be entitled to use the practice facilities at Halo Golf Centre and in future there will be coaching by club PGA professional Julian Parry and former Belmont PGA professional Kevin Davis.

There will be sessions at The Halo Golf centre with Davis on Saturday mornings and at Herefordshire GC on Saturday afternoons and Sundays with Parry.

This will then extend to include some Friday evenings at Ravens Causeway from April 25.

"This will be a very exciting new chapter in HGC history, our junior golfers are the future," said HGC club secretary Sarah Lawrence. "Golf is a great sport to learn as early as possible, it is one of the few sports that taught properly can be returned to at any stage of your life.

"Our environments are safe and full of fresh air, what could be better."

Herefordshire seniors held their annual general meeting combined with a shortened stableford competition over 13 holes.

Incoming captain Rick Shallcross paid tribute to a highly successful year under outgoing captain Chris Harrison. The senior section continues to thrive with 126 current members enjoying a variety of competitions every Tuesday.
