Ross GC dedicated a day in support of Juniors section with more than 120 youngsters who have been part of club head professional Tim Hall's School of Golf being entertained and instructed throughout a hugely successful and eventful day.

A 'Beat the Pro' challenge at the picturesque par 3 12th saw Juniors captain and county under-16 champion Niall Powell driving first with team members tasked with the challenge to get their shot closer using a Nike Club of their choice.

A long Nike driver competition showed Stephen Forrest and Sophie Price to be the top performers in their respective categories with highly impressive drives of 265 yards and 223 yards respectively.

The evening decided the winner of the day's putting competition with the club's restaurant floor converted into an indoor putting green and the top four qualifiers taking part in a 'putt-off'.

Jeanette Forrester, Colin Bennion, John Marshall and club secretary Ian Griffiths sought to be the first to make contact with a glass from some 30 feet with Griffiths departing with a coveted Charl Schwartzel Nike Prototype Putter.

The day raised £562 towards the junior section.
