Belmont member Neil Lloyd had a day to remember when he carded a birdie two at the infamous par three 17th at the TCP Players course in Sawgrass, Florida on the club’s ‘world tour’.
“Neil achieved a rare feat on a hole which saw Sergio Garcia’s chance of winning the PGA event come to grief two weeks earlier, handing the championship to Tiger Woods,” said club president Steve Hughes.
Several members failed to make the green and contributed to the 140,000 balls which are recovered each year from the lake surrounding the hole.
Lloyd’s feat helped him to collect the Belmont World Tour Trophy played over six Florida courses.
