FORMER Hereford United striker Nathan Elder is looking forward to facing the Bulls in an intriguing FA Cup third qualifying round match this Saturday.

Elder played at Edgar Street during the 2011/12 season, but only netted three goals in 26 appearances.

But the striker is certainly in form now and, after scoring 29 goals for Tonbridge Angels last season, he has already hit the target on seven occasions this campaign.

Tonbridge host Hereford FC this Saturday.

"The club haven't got to the fourth qualifying round for a while and haven't reached the first round for 44 years, so there's a bit of history attached to the game," said Elder.

"And for myself, getting the chance to play against one of my old clubs means I'm looking forward to it.

"The spirit's good here at the moment and the club is in a situation that it hasn't been in for a while.

"We're scoring goals and not conceding many at the moment, so it's good.

"We know what the gaffer wants and the club's aspiration is to get promoted.

"The club got close to it last season when we reached the play-offs, so we're looking to do well again in the league and the cup."

Elder admitted that he had a tough time during his spell at Edgar Street.

"It was not great in terms of my football, but I'm glad I got the opportunity to play there," said Elder.

"I made some great people and I'm delighted that Rob Purdie is still there and involved with the club because he's an unbelievable character to have around.

"With all my old clubs, I keep an eye on their results and it's good to see Hereford come back after everything that happened to him and they had a great season last year."

Tonbridge's average attendance this season is 523 and, with hundreds of Bulls supporters set to make the journey, a crowd of over 1,000 is expected.

"Our attendances have gone up and more people are now taking an interest," added Elder.

Hereford are running official coach travel to the game, priced at £20 per person.
