The Old School Lane side are one of a number of community clubs to benefit from the grant over the festive period and will spend the money on equipment, coaching and facilitiy hire costs.

"We are thrilled at being informed the club was amongst the winners of grants for 2015 awarded by Cash 4 Clubs, courtesy of a scheme run by Sports Aid and online sports betting company Betfair," said Chris Wells, communications director at Pegasus.

"We plan to spend the money by purchasing a pitch line marker plus corner poles and flags for all the pitches.

"This will be a tremendous help towards ensuring the future sustainability of our club.

"I strongly recommend that other clubs seize the opportunity to apply to Cash 4 Clubs when the next round of funding becomes available in the autumn of 2016."

Barry Orr, spokesman for Betfair, added: "We’re delighted to continue our support for Cash 4 Clubs for the seventh consecutive year.

"Sport plays a vital role in building local communities and investing in grassroots facilities is hugely important – even more so than at the professional level

"We wish this year’s carefully selected clubs all the best for their year ahead and hope that the Betfair grants will help them on their way to achieving their goals.”
