HEREFORD FC have called for an ‘army of volunteers’ to help clear snow from their pitch ahead of Thursday’s FA Cup replay against Fleetwood.

Currently between eight and 10 centimeters of snow remains on the pitch following Sunday’s weather.

The snow was left on the pitch yesterday to act as a blanket for the pitch during last night’s freezing conditions.

However, the FA are due to bring an inflatable tent to put over the pitch later today and need the pitch clear of snow.

Anybody able to help is urged to meet at Edgar Street from 10am this morning and bring their own snow shovel if you have access to them.

“We need an army of volunteers throughout today to help remove snow from the pitch,” said the club’s twitter feed.

“Please arrive from 10am onwards armed with snow shovels and wheel barrows if you have them! This is a big task, but essential in trying to get the game on!

“Removing snow from the pitch is likely to take all day, we will be working into the evening if needed so please arrive whenever you can throughout the day. Your help will be greatly appreciated.”

BT Sport managed to beat the snow yesterday and have put their scaffolding up.

Local builders are also giving their time to help clear the areas around the ground.
