HEREFORD Lads Club stalwart Steven Bell believes the commitment the players have shown this season enabled them to get promoted to West Midlands (Regional) League Premier Division.

Bell has been an ever present for Lads Club between the sticks and was delighted to see the club finally make reach step six of non-league football.

"We have worked very hard all season, we've made hard work of it at times, but we did it in the end," said Bell.

"I have seen a lot of players come and go, but finally we seem to be going somewhere with the good bunch that we have got.

"The main thing we have got here, along with quality, is commitment.

"You have seen a couple of teams around the county struggle this year to raise sides and compete.

"But that is one thing we have got.

"We have got committed 18, 20 guys, week in, week out.

"We are all mates, we all stick together, we win together, lose together and it's good."

Lads Club have been in and around the promotion mix all season, but on a number of occasions struggled against sides near the foot of the division.

But the city side were always in control in the game that mattered on Saturday, restricting Shenstone Pathfinders to very few chances.

"If you look at our form, we have consistently beaten the top sides around us, but we have struggled against the lower four or five sides," added Bell.

"We should have put them to bed really, so it was nice to score three and keep a clean sheet."
