LEOMINSTER Primary School Under-12s won plenty of plaudits after an unbeaten display at the regional finals of the English Schools' Football Association's Danone Nations Cup at Nottingham University.
The boys, representing Herefordshire, won one and drew four of their five games in a tightly matched qualifying group, conceding only one goal in the process, and were unlucky not to progress to the final stages of the event.
The boys, coached by school sports master James Edmonds, booked their place at the regional finals by winning the Hereford City tournament last autumn.
Headteacher Tim Mamak said: “I’m extremely pleased with the team’s achievement and very proud of the determination and effort the boys displayed in Nottingham.”
