SCOTT Turner said he is loving life at Hereford Lads Club after returning to the city side.

Turner moved across from the county from fellow West Midlands (Regional) Division One team Bartestree in January.

"Unfortunately, things weren't quite happening behind the scenes and on the pitch," said Turner.

"Danny Moon gave me an opportunity and a chance to join Lads Club who I played with before in my younger days.

"So I thought it was a good opportunity to join the lads.

"I got off to a good start, scoring a few goals, and it went from there.

"It is very unified and we all stick together and fight for each other.

"I think the most important thing is to have each others backs when we're on the pitch and let our football do the talking."

Lads Club are now in third place in the division following an excellent 1-0 away success at table toppers Bromyard Town last Saturday and have won five of their last six games.

Turner believes the team are good enough to earn promotion next season.

"It's still a hard shot but as long as we keep winning, that's the most important thing," said Turner.,

"If there's a good enough player out there and is looking to play for us, then Danny will obviously give him an opportunity.

"But the lads we've got now are more than capable of competing in the league that we're in and obviously go on to a higher place."

Lads Club player-manager Danny Moon shares Turner's belief.

"We're building slowly here and don't want to get into it too early with all the travelling and extra games," said Moon.

"You've got to be ready for it and we're not ready for it this season, but will be next year."

Lads Club are six points behind St Martins in second place and seven adrift Bromyard.

Both of those teams have games in hand of the Hereford side.

"We probably ain't going to go up and have a couple of teams who have games in hand of us," said Moon.

"We're playing well and have got a good squad and have people disappointed they didn't get on.

"Let's finish the season on a high and try and finish second."

Lads Club beat Bromyard thanks to Gareth Bowley's header ten minutes before half-time.

At that point, Town were on top and Lads Club needed goalkeeper Steve Bell to pull off a number of fine saves.

But Lads Club defended stoutly throughout the game and even had chances to increase their lead.

Moon's penalty was saved by Dean Smith after the Bromyard keeper upended James Fennessy before he hit a post from close range.

Moon was delighted with his team's performance.

"It's been long overdue, I thought we deserved the win," said Moon.

"They are a good side and have paid out a lot of money, but I think we had the chances, especially mine which would have finished the game off.

"The boys were absolutely superb.

"The oldest player is myself, then the next eight or nine are 20 years of age.

"You ain't going to get anything free here, but we deserved to win because we battled harder than what they did and wanted it more."
