EX-Premier League footballer Dean Windass was the star attraction at a fund-raising evening held at Kington Town.

Windass, who played for numerous clubs, including Hull City and Bradford City, entertained more than 100 guests last Thursday in the recently refurbished clubhouse.

And there was joy on the pitch for the market town club two days later.

Shaun Harris' team hammered Gornal Colts 10-1 to leap up to second in the West Midlands (Regional) League Division 2 table.

Daniel Stack marked his return to the side by opening the scoring from close range before Dale Hodge and a double from his brother Aaron Hodge saw the Yellows open up a 4-0 lead within the first 30 minutes.

Marco Parry then had to leave the field after landing awkwardly when crossing and was taken to hospital.

That put a dampener on proceedings but Kington managed to put it to one side when Stack scored two more goals to complete a first half hat-trick.

Kington started slowly after the break which saw Gornal pull a goal back.

But with goal difference being crucial to Kington's quest for promotion, the Yellows upped a gear and scored a seventh goal through Dale Hodge.

Stack than grabbed his fourth goal of the game before being replaced by James 'Arnie' Williams.

And he was celebrating within seconds when he slid in to put the ball in the back of the net with his first touch.

Aaron Hodge then sealed his hat-trick before Brian Dyer performed a 'robona' cross to entertain the crowd.
