ATTACKING midfielder Aaron Morgan has been named as Wellington’s first-team player of the year in the club’s packed end-of-season awards evening.
Morgan had an impressive campaign for Derek Williams’ team who finished eighth in the West Midlands League Premier Division.
Sam Archer-Plane made the most first-team appearances – 35, Luke Winter picked up the clubman honour for the side and Saul Thomas bagged 28 goals to scoop the golden boot accolade.
However, Thomas could miss the start of the season due to a knee problem.
Mike Docherty won the player-of-the-year honour for Wellington Reserves in the Herefordshire League Premier Division.
John Buchanan was named clubman for the Reserves, with Ryan Dawe finishing as the team’s leading marksman.
Other award winners, Wellington Colts: Player of the year: Nick Jones; clubman: Adam Sharp; top scorer: Nick Britton.
Wellington Under-18: Player of the year: Tom Griffiths; most improved: Brad Winter.
Meanwhile, Wellington’s players will be reporting back for pre-season training on Tuesday, July 8 and have arranged a host of friendlies – all at home.
The opening friendly is at home to Llandrindod Wells on July 16; other friendlies are: Caerleon, July 19; Tuffley Rovers, July 23; Camberley Town, July 26.
