Bromyard overcame a rocky start to their innings at Worcester CC in Division 1 of the Worcestershire County League to achieve a losing draw.

Chasing a score of 272 for 6, they were in early trouble losing openers Edd Oliver and Ashley Bullock with 25 on the board.

Zahid Saeed, all-rounder Lundi Mbane (17) and Eral Anderson (68) then managed to give some solidity to the innings, but never threatened the Worcester total.

Zahid finished unbeaten with 79 from 117 balls and Bromyard were on 222 for 5 at the close.

In the same division, Stourbridge handed out a 101-run defeat to visiting Colwall and have now leapfrogged them in the table.

None of the Colwall bowlers was able to shift Stourbridge’s Bingham who was unbeaten on 135 when the home team’s innings closed on 246 for 9.

For Colwall, seamer Joe Crichard returned figures of 6 for 63.

In reply, Colwall were dismissed for 145 in 36 overs.

In Division 2, thirdplaced Monmouth found wicket-taking difficult on their visit to Pedmore.

After a steady start, Pedmore scored consistently down the order to make 253-7.

Only skipper Paul Swingwood (4 for 56) was able to make occasional inroads into the strong batting lineup.

Though Dan Head (39) and David Teague (29) got the Monmouth reply off to a flying start, some disciplined Pedmore bowling took the game away from them.

But there were some late fireworks from Monmouth number seven Jonathan Jones who blazed his way to an unbeaten 78 with 15 fours and two sixes in a swashbuckling display.

Monmouth finished on 200-7.

Burghill & Tillington narrowed the gap on the Welshmen with a winning draw at Worcester Dominies and Guild.

Owen Morgan, with an unbeaten 113, led Burghill to 261 for 9 but they were just unable to force the victory as the Dominies innings closed on 231 for 9.

Wormelow continue to set the pace in Division 3 after cruising to a fivewicket victory with 11 overs to spare against Enville at Kennel Field.

Lee Watkins took 4-33 in helping to restrict Enville to a score of 193-9.

Following a couple of early alarms, Ian Herbert (32), consistent captain Tim Boulter (68 not out) and Rob Gummer (44) guided the league leaders home.

There was no end to Canon Frome’s travails at Avoncroft where only Max Backhouse (42) and James Fortnam (39) got to grips with the bowling after Frome had decided to bat on a good wicket.

All out for 151, they were beaten by nine wickets.

In Division 4 South, Ross-on-Wye, for whom Jack Evans scored 55, lost by 43 runs at home to Harvington.
