COLWALL claimed their first win of the Worcestershire County League following a 66-run success against Cookley.

Ben Cooke hit an unbeaten 89 and captain Ben Wheeler 46 as Colwall made 228-6.

A much improved display in the field also helped Colwall's cause, with four bowlers taking two wickets which saw Cookley bowled out for 162.

The win sees Colwall move up three places in the division.

Just above them are Burghill, Tillington & Weobley, who enjoyed a thrilling three-run win against Droitwich Spa.

Burghill made a very competitive 301-9 off 50 overs, with Ben Parkinson (64), Tim Walsh (52), Jacob James (50) and Sam Johnston (37) making fine knocks.

Droitwich made a good start, with Martyn Davies and Ash Fearnall making 48 for for the first wicket before Jordan Renau (53) also contributed to their total.

Key runs by middle-order batsmen Ina Cottrill (48) and Jez Hanson (40) added to the excitement, but Burghill persevered and the away side fell just short.

Barney Morgan, Joel Aldridge and Jacob James all took two wickets for Burghill.

In Division Two, both Bromyard and Wormelow lost, which leaves them just above the relegation zone.

Bromyard were bowled out for 225 against Evesham, despite decent knocks from George Leighton (75), Zahid Saeed (47) and Edd Oliver (34).

To their credit, Bromyard bowled well, with Jamie Abell and David Taylor both snapping up three wickets.

But Evesham managed to reach their total with two wickets to spare.

As for Wormelow, they lost by 122 runs to Old Vigornians.

Elliott Williams bowled well to take 4-47, but Wormelow batted poorly and were skittled out for 138.

Only Jasper Linley-Adams, Matt Deem and Williams got into double figures.

Bartestree & Lugwardine, meanwhile, have dropped to third place in Division Three following a 51-run defeat at home to Himbleton.

Dan Harris took three wickets as Bartestree restricted Himbleton to 175-8 off 50 overs.

But the home side were unable to get near their total and were bowled out for 124; Rob Perrins taking 4-26 for Himbleton.
