COLWALL failed to end their recent losing streak as they went down by a single wicket in a last-over thriller against Worcestershire County League Division One rivals Worcester.

Despite dominating the game for long periods, Colwall were left to rue their lack of composure in the closing overs of both innings as Worcester were let off the hook at the death, their last pair scoring the 26 runs required to win with five balls remaining.

It was a frustrating outcome for the home side after an improved performance, including several fine individual contributions had put them in the driving seat.

Ben Cooke led the way with a determined 86 after Colwall chose to bat, ably supported by 59 from Tom Coleman and a valuable 40 by Sam Crichard, while Coleman and Jack Knight-Adams both bowled well to take three wickets apiece, but in the end Worcester just had the edge.

A fine 97 from Barney Morgan was not enough for Burghill, Tillington & Weobley as they slumped to a five-wicket defeat against Oldswinford & Stourbridge Social.

Burghill were bowled out for 157, with Oldswinford & Stourbridge reaching their total with four overs to spare.

Stephen Caple (4-35) was the pick of the Burghill bowlers.

Bromyard gained a much-needed win against Evesham that lifts them out of the Division Two relegation zone.

Will Yarnold and Greg Leighton both snapped up three wickets as Bromyard skittled Evesham out for 153.

Ed Smith (45), Josh van Rensburg (39) and Leighton (38) then scored useful runs as Bromyard eased home with three wickets in hand.

In the same division, Wormelow went down to a five-wicket defeat to Lye; Matt Deem top scoring for Wormelow with 56.

Bartestree & Lugwardine fell to a surprising 153-run loss to Cleobury Mortimer in Division Three that has put the villagers out of the automatic promotion places.

Ed Kemp (65) did the damage with the bat, while Harry Booten took three wickets for Cleobury.

Ross-on-Wye also had a bad day at the office, going down to a 117-run hammering at the hands of Netherton.

After bowling their opponents out for 220, Ross would have felt they had a chance of winning the game.

But they never got going and only Harry Friend (28), Angus McIntyre (19) and James Tiffen (14) got into double figures; Ross eventually being bowled out for 103.

In the 2nd XI Leagues, Colwall beat Worcester by six wickets, Bromyard overcame Cookley, Burghill, Tillington & Weobley saw off Oldswinford & Stourbridge, Bartestree & Lugwardine thrashed Bromsgrove 4ths and Ross bear Stourport-on-Severn. But Wormelow lost to Lye.
