BROCKHAMPTON are up to third place in Birmingham & District Premier League Division One following a three wicket win over Bromsgrove.

Herefordshire's Jamie McIlroy helped himself to four wickets, while South African Senuran Muthusamy also performed well with the bat and the ball.

McIlroy was in the groove straight away, removing both of Bromsgrove's openers to leave the Worcestershire side reeling on 18-2.

Dominic Badger then snapped up a wicket before Bromsgrove's Alexei Kervezee added some much needed runs.

Kervezee eventually made 56 off 67 balls, while Jayden Levitt and Tom Green scored 24 and 21 respectively in Bromsgrove's all out total of 170.

Brockhampton started slowly when put into bat, with Henry Langford and Chris Powell both going cheaply.

Adam Hewlett played well before going for 28 off 42 balls, while Muthusamy would go on to make 38.

Middle-order batsmen Ian Bullock and William Ford also added useful runs and Brockhampton reached their target with 4.3 overs left.

Elsewhere, Eastnor went down to a losing draw to Newport in Division Three.

Both sides' innings were reduced to 35 overs, with Rajat Bhatia hitting a half century in Newport's total of 171-8.

In reply, Eastnor never got going and it was only captain Jabran Khalid who offered any resistance.

Khalid went on to make 49 before he was caught by Ian Gillespie, but the only players who looked in any sort of form were Faisal Khalid and Shaid Ahmed, who both scored 20.

Anees Tariq, Tareq Jamil, Suleyman Shah and Dawud Ahmed didn't score any runs between them and Eastnor only made 96 with seven wickets lost.
