BROCKHAMPTON Cricket Club chairman Roy Wargen believes everything is looking positive as the villagers get back into action this weekend.

A home match against Kenilworth Wardens awaits in the first round of the Graham Williamson Trophy this Saturday before Brockhampton start their Birmingham & District Premier League Division One campaign with an away trip to Dorridge on April 30.

New players that will feature at The Parks include Josh and Ryan Tongue and Dominic Badger.

Josh Tongue made his first class debut for Worcestershire against Oxford University last month.

"We've also signed a couple of lads from Bartestree and Oliver Rogoff from Wormelow," said Wargen.

"We've lost Chris Boroughs, who has gone to Himley, but Tom Austwick has come back.

"In total, we've signed eight new players and we are looking forward to rebuilding the club."

South African Senuran Muthusamy is the overseas player, with Nick Powell and Adam Hewlett appointed captain and vice-captain respectively.

Matt Bullock is first team coach and Glyn Harrhy head coach, while Kate Bishop will continue leading the ladies team.

The Under-19s will also enter the national Twenty-20 competition.

Brockhampton were relegated from the Premier Division last season, but Wargen has not set any targets for this campaign.

"We've got a very young side and are looking to rebuild – it's part of a three to four-year plan," said Wargen.

"Everything is positive with the people we've signed and we'll see where we are in August.

"I'm not interested in any other club, I only worried about my club.

"We will take each game on a weekly basis."
