A MAN who helped set up Burghill and Tillington Cricket Club has died.
Len Sparrow, 71, was well known in the local cricket scene and was a former policeman.
Ian Macklin, chairman of Herefordshire County Cricket Club's 2nd XI, said Sparrow was a fine batsman and wicket-keeper.
"He loved cricket and was a good organiser," said Macklin, who was with Sparrow when Burghill was formed in the early 1970's.
Sparrow's funeral will be held tomorrow (Friday).
Following this, his family is inviting anyone who knew him to attend Wetherspoons in Hereford where a gathering will be held to remember his life.
