TOM Coleman cracked a fine century as Herefordshire 2nd suffered an agonising two-wicket defeat against Staffordshire Development.
Herefordshire were bowled out for 242 and looked on course for their first win after reducing Staffordshire to 198-7 in the friendly at West Bromwich Dartmouth.
Despite a fine spell from James Tiffen (3-35), Staffordshire squeezed home with just three balls to spare. Previously, Coleman scored 100 from just 114 deliveries and was backed up by Josh Emery (35) and James O’Brien (24) in Herefordshire’s innings.
Jamie McIlroy (3-35) had Staffordshire reeling at 33-3 before Alex McChristie (71) and Jake Thompson (63) resurrected the hosts’ victory hopes.
