JOHN Kyrle High School athletes will be represented in big numbers at the county finals at Nunnery Wood School on Saturday after starring at the Hereford District schools trials.

Eighteen school athletes finished in the top three places to gain selection with pride of place going to Luke Clarke in year nine, who won all three of his events in the junior boys competition.

He ran 100 metres in 11.24 seconds, the 400m in 55.95 and managed five-metres 36 centimetres in the long jump, breaking several school records in the process.

In the high jump, two school records were broken, the first by Amber Probyn (year nine) with a jump of one-metre 53cm and the second by Harry Abbott who cleared 1.75 to take gold in his first ever high jump competition.

The Maisey brothers, Dan and James, cleared up in the shot putt with a new school record and personal best for Dan (year nine) of 12.77, and a throw of 11.78 by his older brother James (year 11) who also won the discus in 25.81.

Intermediate Girls: Emma Croft TJ/300m, Charlotte Fishwick Discus, Michelle Gartside LJ/Javelin.

Intermediate Boys: Harry Abbot HJ, James Maisey Shot/Discus, Alex Iles 100m/Relay, Connor Watkins 800m.
