Ledbury Cricket Club’s 175th anniversary cricket week celebrations are now less than a month away with final preparations well under way.

Centrepiece of the week promises to be the club’s 175 anniversary dinner at Alexander Park on Friday, July 6 which will be attended by the Mayor and Mayoress of Ledbury, sponsor Charles Masefield Solicitors and many former players and friends of the club.

Former New Zealand captain and Sky TV commentator Jeremy Coney will be the guest of honour.

The cricket week starts on Sunday, July 1 with an all-day game against fellow 175 birthday club Ross-on-Wye.

Also planned for the cricket week are a 20/20 challenge match against Dymock, a visit to Bristol to watch some 20/20 action and a golf day on Tuesday, July 3 at The Grove Golf Centre near Leominster.

Ledbury are also holding a Kwik Cricket Tournament at their New Street ground involving local primary schools on Friday, July 6.

The cricket week concludes on Sunday, July 8 with a Ledbury Past v Ledbury Present 40-over game where many former playing members will be coming out of retirement to help current playing members finish the 175 celebrations in style.

A pig roast is also planned for the afternoon as the birthday celebrations draw to a close.
