GARNONS remain top of the GB Liners Marches League Division One table after beating Weobley in one of the few games in the competition to survive the weather.

With only George Cotterell (35), Jon Andrews (22) and Rob Pritchard (17) reaching double-figures against an attack spear-headed by Alun Howard, it seemed that Garnons’ score of 131 might be below par against the high-scoring Weobley batting line-up.

But the villagers also failed to fire and although Howard (20) completed a decent all-round performance, Alan Jones (3-20), Andrews (3-37), Stuart Griffiths (2-8) and James Bolton (2-12) ensured a 53-run triumph for the pacemakers.

Reigning champions Luctonians are beginning to hit their stride and comfortable saw off Dales by eight wickets.

Kyle Prince (3-19) and Paul Davies (3-35) bowled out the home side for 114 and James Platford then dominated the reply with an unbeaten 56.

Goodrich enjoyed a narrow one-wicket success at Builth Wells while Bartestree and Lugwardine have begun to pick up the pace after a poor start to the term.

The villagers posted 154-6 from their 45 overs with Steve Fortey (36) top-scoring and then bowled out Glangrwyney for 130 with Matt Ashcroft (5-35) leading the way.

Only one game survived the rain in Division Two, where Ian Jones (92) guided Shobdon to victory over Bosbury for whom Luke Ledbury was unbeaten with 83.

Matters were even worse in Division Three where the programme was completely wiped out.

Runs were generally hard to come by in the lower divisions although Moccas skipper Colin Prothero compiled an unbeaten 67 as his side beat Widemarsh Lads Club.

There were two good performances, one with bat and one with ball, for Woolhope 2nd who beat Ledbury 2nd by 59 runs.

M Foster (82) led the way with the bat before S Williams (5-24) restricted the Ledbury reply.
