TRANSFER-LISTED duo Janos Kovacs and Sean Canham have rejected moves away from Edgar Street.

Chairman David Keyte revealed the pair have each turned down three moves to interested clubs.

“There is always speculation surrounding players but the only enquiries we’ve had have been about Kovacs and Canham,” said Keyte.

“I’ve heard rumours about other players supposedly leaving - but those have been speculation and you hear rumours all the time in football.

“Kovacs and Canham have turned down about three moves each.

“We’ve circulated them widely and they’ve had interest from Conference clubs.

“One or two of the clubs interested in them would actually be bigger clubs than us.”

The duo were signed on twoyear deals last summer by former boss Simon Davey, who was sacked after 10 games.

But current manager Jamie Pitman has made it clear that Kovacs and Canham do not feature in his plans.

“They have contracts at Hereford United and they have decided to stay put,”

said Keyte yesterday morning.

United are hoping to extend the one-month loan deal of Swansea City goalkeeper Dave Cornell, who made a string of superb saves in last week’s Carling Cup defeat at Aston Villa.

First-choice stopper Adam Bartlett was withdrawn at half-time in Tuesday’s 4-1 Johnstone’s Paint Trophy defeat at Bournemouth.

“Bartlett has had a recurrence of his thigh injury and he was starting to feel it so, as a precaution, he was taken off at half time,” said Keyte.

Former Hereford favourite Marc Pugh scored against United on Tuesday and they could be facing another popular old-boy when they host Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday.

The versatile Richard Rose was not offered a new contract by Pitman and signed for the Daggers in August.

“It will be good to see Richard back - he played a number of years for us,” said the Bulls chairman. “I don’t think he’s featured too much but it will be good to see him back on Saturday.”

Keyte expects a tight battle on Saturday - but knows United must start winning at Edgar Street.

“Dagenham are not going to give much away and we now need to pick up one or two home wins,” said Keyte.

“Getting the first goal is vital. As we found out against Morecambe, if you go 2-0 down at half time, it’s very hard to come back in this league.”
