BOSS JAMIE Pitman is to be rewarded for reviving the fortunes of Hereford United with a new two-year contract.

Pitman, 35, stepped in as caretaker manager after Simon Davey was sacked after 10 games of the season with the club rooted to the bottom of League 2.

Since then, Pitman has transformed the team, lifting them off the foot of the table as well as guiding them to the FA Cup fourth round.

Twice this year he's been nominated for the Manager of the Month award, and only last week the Bulls picked up the Performance of the Week prize for their 3-0 win over league leaders Chesterfield.

"I'm delighted and thrilled to be given the chance to lead the Bulls into the future,” said Pitman.

“This club is in my blood.”

United chairman David Keyte said: "The results of Jamie's hard work are there for all to see. Thanks to him and his team we've had a great turnaround in form this year and he richly deserves the chance to lead us forward."
