WE have had a great start to the year with four successive wins.

It would have been lovely if they had all come in the league but hopefully we are going to continue our great FA Cup run, too.

Now we have to maintain that form in our league campaign, starting at Accrington on Saturday.

It’s a confidence booster to beat one of the teams who are at the foot of the table with us, and to beat them well.

To keep two clean sheets on the bounce is also a great sign of where we are at the moment.

The players have worked very hard; we have worked specifically on a number of things over the last few weeks and they have taken them on board.

It seems to have helped us defensively and we are also very free-flowing going forward so, at the moment, we have a good balance.

We will look to continue with that because we can be a mid-table team.

The players have to take great credit for the way our results have turned around. They have got their heads down, worked and maintained the belief and confidence which Russell Hoult, Lennie Lawrence and I have tried to instil in them.

They are good players and, hopefully, now we have steadied the ship and will keep on going into league games with confidence.

If you keep working hard, you hope the luck will turn for you; it probably did a bit on Saturday with the own goal and after that we went on from strength to strength.

Mathieu Manset is attracting a good deal of attention at the moment. He is big, he is strong and he has got a great deal of ability.

But Stuart Fleetwood complements him very well; he works very hard on and off the ball. On Saturday, he was making 50 and 60-yard runs to keep the ball in play – that just shows the confidence among everybody and the belief and willingness to get out of the trouble that we are in.

Of course, the strikers are highlighted because they score the goals but everyone has done very well recently.

It’s a good feeling to see the way the two strikers have turned their game around since I took over and I hope that my personality and my dedication to this football club is rubbing off on everybody.

Stuart and Manny are two that have dramatically changed around but you can see that there is a totally different outlook throughout the squad – that comes with confidence and winning games.

We are always looking to improve the squad but we have to be very careful whom we bring in.

At the moment we have great continuity with everyone at the club and so you have to be very careful with the type of personality and the players that you recruit.

A lot of the injured players are now fit again; if we can keep them fit then we have some very good players here.

We are not desperately in need of bringing anyone in but we are always looking to improve; it just needs handling carefully because we do not want to disrupt what we have.
