TALENTED gymnast Emily Goring has won the Hereford Times Ted Woodriffe Trophy.

Emily, from Dorstone, became the English senior women’s gymnastics champion in 2009.

She also took gold and silver medals at the English championships.

The 17-year-old is the West Midlands Senior gymnastics champion, a title which she also claimed in 2008.

She has represented England at the Leverkusen Cup in Germany, the Mayor’s Cup in Russia and won the Alpha Factor invitation event last September.

Emily led her club – Park Wrekin Gymnastic Club – to the West Midland Team title in November and she competed at the Malta International in December.

She is seen as a superb leader of her club and an outstanding example of the success which can be achieved through hard work and dedication.

Emily is an inspiration to all the young gymnasts and has justified the high expectations of her coaches from British Gymnastics.

The teenager is the first gymnast to win the Ted Woodriffe Trophy and succeeds archer Rachel Beardsley.

Ted Woodriffe was an extremely well-known and popular sports editor of the Hereford Times, which he served from 1959 to 1991.
