PROMISING Hereford rower Jamie Coombes finished second at the 4km Pairs Head Race on the River Thames in London.

Competing in the double scull with Monmouth’s Dan Penney, the duo raced in gruelling conditions on the ebb tide.

The pair finished second in their section to a Tideway Scullers crew who train daily on that stretch of water.
