ROSIE Kidner-Hughes was celebrating after the Monmouthshire Hunt point to point meeting at Llanvapley on Saturday as the 17-year-old made her first ride a winning one in the Restricted Open race.

Riding Last Warrior, trained by her mother Annie, the diminutive Kidnor- Hughes who has a background in show jumping, brought her mount to challenge at the third-last fence and the partnership drew clear to win by 10 lengths.

The Ladies Open race as expected fell to the 1/8 odds-on favourite Chestnut Annie who was recording her seventh win of the season. However, there was controversy after the finish of the second division of the Maiden race as the judges’ verdict went to the fast-finishing Cudeen rather than the tiring leader U B Careful by a short-head as many had anticipated.
