HEREFORD’S Women's Vet B Coxed 4 of Helen Phillips, Alex Champ, Clare Fenton and Veronica Preedy, coxed by Robin Morris won their category at the Veteran 4s Head in London.

Hereford had three crews competing at the event which took place along four and a quarter miles of gruelling windswept conditions on the River Thames from Mortlake to Putney.

The Men's Veteran C coxed 4, consisting of Phil Hart, Richard Bissell, Keith Lawrence and Rod Phillips, coxed by Sue Bissell came second in their Category, closely followed by the other Hereford men's coxed 4 consisting of Dominic Churcher, Mark Fenton, Nigel Birch and Mikey Gardner, coxed by Sean Blake, who came in just 11 seconds later.

While the Veteran crews were battling conditions on the Thames, the Junior squad and Senior crews were taking part in a very wet Stourport Head.

Hereford’s most impressive performance came from Jamie Coombes in the Open Senior 2 Single Scull category who was also the fastest single scull overall, his time right up with the fastest fours and quads, making this an outstanding result.

Other winners were Will Price in the Open J15 Single Scull, and Caitlin Bissell and Ellie Rogers in the Women's J15 Double Scull.
