BROMYARD Town, whose season kicks off on Saturday with a Sport Italia West Midlands (Regional) League Premier Division visit to county rivals Wellington, have entered the FA Cup for the first time in their history.

The Herefordshire side have been given an extra preliminary bye and will make their bow in the prestigious tournament by entertaining Unibond Division 1 side Shepshed Dynamo on September 1.

The team will again be managed by Geoff Woodward and Adam Ward while Dave Gwynne and Ceri Owens will run the club's Hereford Times Herefordshire League Premier Division side.

Further down the age scale, the club has established a link with Droitwich Spa High School where team members from the Midland Floodlit Youth League side will all train and study.

Meanwhile, in the lead-up to the season, secretary Tony Haverfield has been awarded the C Gordon Davis Administration Award by the West Midlands League for services to club and league.

Haverfield received the award from league secretary Neil Juggins at the league's annual dinner at Walsall's Bescot Stadium.

Other Herefordshire clubs will also be competing in the FA Cup but are drawn to play in the extra-preliminary round on August 18.

Westfields are at home to Friar Lane & Epworth, while Ledbury Town host Boldmere St Michael's and Pegasus Juniors are at home to New Mills. Wellington are away to Coleshill Town.
