Pegasus Ladies 1 Aston Villa Ladies 8 PEGASUS found the going tough last Thursday against National 1 North side Villa who are one step above the home side even after their promotion to the Midland Combination.
The extra level of fitness and technique from the higher-graded team was apparent throughout the match as Villa scored at regular intervals.
The Pegasus consolation came midway through the first period when Etty Greenhouse scored with a free-kick from just outside the penalty area.
Pegasus Ladies 4 Stratford Town Ladies 3 Pegasus bounced back when they retained the Bev Price Memorial Shield with a win over Stratford.
A bright start saw Jade Powell and Lucy Blandford fire the home side into a two-goal half-time lead.
At the beginning of the second period, Nina Powell raced on to a Stella Price pass to add the third and, after some good Pegasus football, Nina Powell's corner was pushed away to Shellie Doyle who crashed a shot into the roof of the net.
With the exertions of the midweek match beginning to tell, Pegasus eased off in the closing stages and Stratford scored three well-taken goals in the final 10 minutes.
