A NETBALL team have had a flying start to the season by winning back-to-back silverware.

The squad, who are part of the Hereford Sixth Form College Netball Academy, were invited to attend a tournament at Cardiff Metropolitan University.

The girls spent the morning taking part in netball skills sessions before taking part in the event.

They came out on top after facing tough opposition, which included a Cardiff Met selected team, Exeter College, South Gloucestershire & Stroud College and Richard Huish College, Taunton.

The team continued their success the following week at the Herefordshire County Schools Tournament, where they beat Hereford Cathedral School and Lucton School to become county champions.

"The College’s Netball Academy goes from strength-to-strength and this year has almost 80 students signed on, the largest number in the Academy’s short history," said Hereford Sixth Form College spokesman Angie Cheasley.

"Two teams play in the Association of Colleges (AoC) Sport West Midlands Performance Leagues and the remaining teams play regular local fixtures."
