PAGE Family Tae Kwon Do club (PFTKD) decided to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Korean martial art by holding a '60 x charity challenge' for their students.

Chief instructor Brennen Page challenged them to complete 60 repetitions of each of his favourite exercises and techniques, including 60 press ups, 60 sits ups, 60 burpees, 60 kicks (each leg), 60 punches (each arm), 60 knee strikes, 60 patterns and 60 sparring bouts, totalling 600 repetitions overall

Held at Hereford Cathedral School's sports hall, the club raised more than £1,000 for St Michael's Hospice and nearly £500 for the Neonnatal Baby Care Unite at Neville Hall Hospital in Abergavenny.

“Everyone's effort and support of this event has been overwhelming and has demonstrated such a great spirit and drive from all involved., said Page.

"The challenge itself was a lot harder than we all thought and the patterns were surprisingly the hardest part, mentally and physically.

"I want to congratulate everyone for their hard work, in particular the junior members because it was tough.

"Stamina and grit is something you achieve with age and those young guys did fantastically.”

Cake were sold throughout the day, with a raffle draw also held.
