STRONG support from members in ideal winter conditions enabled Ross Golf Club seniors to complete a highly successful Florida Scramble Medal event.

A total of 66 players took part, with 22 drawn teams competing for the top four prizes.

A side comprising of in-form Kim Hampson, who has developed a winning habit of late, was always likely to score well and so it proved with Nick Swan, Steve Phillips and Hampson able to claim the top prizes with room to spare.

Their 57.7 medal score in the 16 holes event was never threatened although the runners-up team consisting of Don Punnett, Andy Baldwin and Keith Ray did perform well with a 59.3 medal score.

The third placed prizes were earned by Alan Thompson, Richard Escolme and Tiger Dixon with 60.5, just edging out the fourth placed Richard Topping, Graham Weare and David Peacock.

Seniors captain Topping als took a squad to Worcestershire Golf Club in their quest to get a result in their latest Winter league match.

Ross narrowly lost 5-3, with Ross's wins coming from Tim Ridgden and Barry Le Feuvre (2/1) and Andy Baldwin and Steve Bartholomew (3/2) with halved matches involving Peter Chapman and Arthur Reid and Steve Martin and Mike Harris. To secure the claret jug, Ross realistically have to bear Leominster next month as long as they successfully negotiate Sapey GC and Burghill Valley GC.
