WESTFIELDS suffered a surprise Midlands Football League home defeat when they went down 3-2 at home to Continental Star.

Fields will be disappointed to take nothing from the game after failing from the penalty spot and holding a half-time advantage.

The home side had a chance to go in front after only four minutes when Zac Sirrell was brought down in the penalty area.

But Nathaniel Lewars, on loan from Hereford United, sent his penalty weakly straight at Star goalkeeper O'Carro.

Fields did, however, go in front when Craig Jones surged forward to send a left-foot shot into the net.

Five minutes into the second period, Star equalised when Muhammed Ndowi headed home.

And, two minutes later, the visitors went in front when Darren Green scored from a free-kick.

Jones forced a fine save from O'Carro and sent a free-kick just wide before Den Johnson shot under Matt Gwynne to increase the lead.

Dan Polan's stoppage time goal was little consolation for the home side.

DESPITE a fine fightback from three adrift, Wellington just failed to secure a point in a nine-goal thriller, going down 5-4 at home to Wolverhampton Casuals in the West Midlands League Premier Division.

Wellington were two down inside three minutes and, after Josh Hunt and Aaron Morgan had gone close, fell three behind 10 minutes before the break.

Paul Jones crossed for Hunt to head in and them Dave Price's shot deflected home to cut the margin to a single goal at the interval.

Casuals scored twice more early in the second period but despite further goals from Hunt and Luke Winter, Wellington could not find an equaliser.
