COLWALL remain third in Worcester League Division One after defeat at home to league leaders Pershore by 49 runs at Stowe Lane.

The hosts were set 193 to from their 50 overs but never really looked like getting there despite a late 47 from Matthew Morgan.

Dan Head, Colwall First team captain said: “I’m disappointed with the result - I think we should have got to the total quite easily.

“We were unlucky with the run out of Tom Coleman and a few decisions didn’t go our way but ultimately it’s down to us.”

Colwall started the match well reducing Pershore to 29-3 at one stage but did restrict the visitors to 192-6 with Michael Gooch taking 2-30.

Head said: “They should have scored 50 or 60 less than they did.

“We bowled poorly in the mid section of their innings.”

The home side were never allowed to get going in reply with only overseas player Wehan Joubert offering any resistance to the opposition bowling with 34 before Morgan’s 47 late on.

Head said it was disappointing that only two players got into double figures.

Colwall’s next game is at home to second-placed Worcester this weekend.
