MARKSMAN James Bevis says he is ready to rock his way to a medal at the World Championships this summer.
The Herefordshire ace has started the new season with a flourish and clinched a gold medal at the International Shooting Competition of Hannover (ISCH).
Bevis is on target for success at the IPC Shooting World Championships in Suhl, Germany, in July.
Now Bevis, who lives in Teignmouth, is hoping to share his shooting tips with Matthew Bellamy, the front-man of alternative rock band Muse.
Bevis met Bellamy, the lead vocalist, guitarist and main songwriter of Muse, at a party and the pair chatted about shooting for two hours.
“My girlfriend, Sarah, is good friends with the wife of the bass guitarist from Muse and he had a 40th birthday party to which we were invited,” explained Bevis.
“Muse are from Teignmouth and I met Matt Bellamy who is a rifle shooter.
“I chatted with Matt about shooting for more than two hours and, hopefully, I will be able to give him a bit of coaching.
“Matt is a keen shooter and I spoke to him about my Paralympic final in London. He said the pressure in my shoot must have been the same as when he does a live piano or guitar solo.”
Bevis, a Great Britain marksman, has just celebrated a gold medal triumph in the 50-metre air rifle prone at the ISCH.
He took the gold medal after carding 626.8.
“My new gun is very good and it felt fantastic,” said Bevis, who was eighth in the 10-m standing competition.
He is now preparing for next month’s IPC World Cup event in Fort Benning, USA.
Earlier this year, Bevis shot his way to a bronze medal at the World Cup in Aylesbury.
And he has also won the British free rifle competition this year to add to his National indoor prone British title.
At the London 2012 Paralympics, Bevis secured a coveted bronze medal after a dramatic sudden-death shootout for silver at Woolwich Barracks.
