ANNA Robertson has capped a hugely successful time at the round of recent awards ceremonies by carrying off the Herefordshire Sport coach of the year prize.

Robertson became the Chance to Shine cricket coach of the year and followed up with a finalist spot at the Gillette UK Coaching Awards.

She was then named coach of the year at the 2013 Herefordshire & Worcestershire Sports Partnership event.

As well as coaching cricket - under her leadership, Herefordshire under-13 girls won three out of five matches at the inter-county event at Malvern - as a netball coach she has also brought many players back to the sport through the Back to Netball initiative.

As a nationally-ranked hammer thrower, she also coaches athletics and has played a key role in running community games at Burghill.

Former Garnons chairman Steve Newton is the winner of the service to sport award after serving the club for quarter-of-a-century.

He was chairman for 15 years until standing down last autumn and has overseen success both on and off the field for the current GB Liners Marches League champions.

He has also contributed significantly to the development of cricket across Herefordshire as a director of Herefordshire Cricket Ltd.

Long-serving Hereford and County Athletics Club secretary Tony Williams is also highly commended in the service to sport award.

Williams, who won the award 20 years ago in 1994, has been involved in athletics administration since 1960 and has been actively involved in competitive athletics since 1945.
