Eight out of eight as Hereford maintain their perfect home start

Hereford 18 pts Stratford upon Avon 12
HEREFORD extended their perfect home start to eight matches by completing a Midlands One West double over a much-improved Stratford side.
It was a hard-fought win for the Wyesiders who had roared into a 10-point advantage with just 10 minutes played.
"We again dogged out a result in conditions not suited to our passing game and proved that we can win ugly when necessary," said spokesman and club stalwart Robin Davies.
"The whole squad contributed to the success.
"With Hereford leading by just one point just after half-time and playing up the slope and against the wind in the second half, Stratford appeared favourites to win the game, but the Hereford game plan to keep the ball in hand and go through the phases was successful."
Hereford made a fine start with the ball spun wide for Nat Thomas to score in the corner.
Dean Powell converted from a difficult angle and then increased the lead after a fine run by Alex Hickinbotham forced a penalty.
Despite posing little threat in the first 20 minutes, Stratford cut arrears with a converted try but Powell was again successful with a penalty to take the lead to 13-7 at the break.
Stratford reduced the margin to a single point with a try early in the second half and would have been ahead but for an enthusiastic charge which prevented a successful conversion.
The decisive score came 15 minutes into the half when Matt Pritchard picked up a loose ball and ran 40 yards for the winning try.
Powell's conversion attempt came back off an upright.
Hereford resume their programme with a visit to high-flying Walsall on January 4.
Hereford 2nd beat Wolverhampton 2nd 38-8.
