HEREFORD’S Back to Netball group have taken part in their second competition and shown that their efforts and those of coach Anna Robertson have been paying off.

After finishing bottom of the group at the first regional Back to Netball Festival in West Bromwich, although winning an award for their sportsmanship, the squad won three of their five games in the second festival, losing the other two narrowly to finish fifth of the eight teams.

The team won five and lost five games in the Hereford Summer League to finish third in Division Two group four.

At a presentation evening, Steph Waters won player-of- the-year, Kerry Whitefoot was the most improved, Sue Prosser the winning team player and Ceris Barnes the player who falls over the most.

“I felt this would give the ladies a confidence boost and a thank you for them attending my sessions every week and working hard all year,” said coach Anna Robertson, who organised the evening.

Some of the players have now gone to join new teams in the winter league, others have gone off to university and some have stayed with the Back to Netball group.

“It is great to see new women each week turning up to the sessions,” said Robertson.“Netball is really growing at adult level in Hereforshire as we now have three divisions in the Herefordshire Netball League.”.
