ANOTHER fine all-round performance from former Herefordshire skipper Chris Boroughs boosted Brockhampton’s prospects of runners-up spot in the Birmingham League Premier Division.

With five games to play, the villagers are 19 points clear of third-placed Walsall although their nine-wicket win over West Bromwich Dartmouth still leaves them 55 points shy of leaders Shrewsbury.

After skipper Ben Stebbings won the toss and elected to field first, Borough and opening-bowling partner Charlie Morris quickly got to work.

Only one of the visiting batsmen reached 20 as Boroughs (6-32) and Morris (2-25), with assistance from Dave Exall (2-18) skittled them out for just 80.

Although Adam Hewlett (eight) went early, Henry Langford (32 not out) was joined by Boroughs (28no) and the pair raced to the target in just 10 overs.

Brockhampton now travel to Barnt Green on Saturday before hosting Wombourne on Bank Holiday Monday, with both opponents currently in the bottom three in the division.

Fifth-placed Eastnor have rekindled hopes of a top-three finish in Division Two after a seven-wicket win in a rain-affected clash at Halesowen.

Skipper Clive Chadhani sent the hosts in to bat first and they made steady progress against the Eastnor attack.

They had compiled 128 from 40 overs before a late scoring burst from the final 10 took the Midlanders to 202-8.

Sajid Ali (2-33), Atiq ur Rehman (2-34) and Shahid Ahmed (2-47) all picked up a couple of wickets apiece for Eastnor.

A short shower reduced Eastnor’s target to 196 from 45 overs and a second downpour meant a further revision to 178 from 40.

Chadhani (22) and Andrew Fisher (72no) got the reply under way with a stand of 55 and Atiq (50), who survived a confident lbw appeal first ball, shared a key partnership of 104 with the opener.

With further rain threatening, Shahid came in to lash a four and a six to ensure the target was reached with six overs remaining.

l Bartestree and Lugwardine recorded a nail-biting two-wicket win over Colwall at Pentland Gardens to clinch the Herefordshire Junior League Under-13 crown.

Good spells from Tom Pearson (3-15), George Hall (2-11) and Wilf Munn (2-18) helped to bowl out Colwall for 66 in 16.2 overs. Colwall’s Max Taylor hit 25.

Despite fine displays from Colwall duo Ollie Garnett (4-16) and Jake Hill (3-13), Bartestree squeezed home in the 16th over, with Joe Vaughan top-scoring with 10.
