GREEN-FINGERED enthusiasts can hear from a charismatic gardener on scented plants.

Bob Flowerdew will talk about the history, function and how to make scented plants at Bishampton and District Gardening Club.

Mr Flowerdew will also treat his audience to some samples to sniff, and explain how to ‘smell more accurately’. The presentation will be followed by a question and answer session and the chance to buy some of his books.

Pete Chamberlain, chairman of Bishampton & District Gardening Club, said: “ We are extremely fortunate to have secured Bob to come along and speak to us and are looking forward to his presentation.”

An author and presenter, Mr Flowerdew joined BBC Radio 4's prestigious 'Gardener's Question Time' panel over twenty years ago where he still concentrate on fruits, vegetables, organic methods and scented plants.

At the same time he became a presenter for BBC 2 television's Gardener's World as their organic fruit and vegetable expert.

He now writes for journals at home and abroad. particularly Amateur Gardening, Kitchen Garden Magazine and BBC Gardeners World Magazine, and a blog for Hartley Botanic, amongst others - as well as giving lectures.

The event takes place on Wednesday July 5 at the Villages Hall, Broad Lane, Bishampton, starting at 7.30pm.
