NEWLY enobled Baron Mandelson of Foy will be asked to back his self-professed fondness for Herefordshire by being the county's "business" man at Westminster.
Herefordshire Council leader councillor Roger Phillips said that as secretary of state for business, Lord Mandelson was ideally placed to pitch the county's commercial cause - as an example of what could be done for rural business in general.
The council's cabinet heard that Coun Phillips would be inviting Lord Mandelson to become, in effect, a champion for Herefordshire business.
In the Hereford Times last week, Lord Mandelson spoke of his fondness for the county, and Foy in particular.
